For her role as Bess in Porgy and Bess, Dorothy insisted that she not wear any makeup, and of course she got her wish. And of course her wish was granted because Dorothy was a natural beauty and didn’t need the aid of makeup.
Actor/singer Herb Jeffries said that Dorothy was ”the most beautiful woman I had ever seen in my life. By all standards.” I must say that I agree 100%. When Dorothy walked into a room, there wasn’t a single man who couldn’t keep his eyes off of her.
