For the Love of Dorothy Dandridge

A rare find on Twitter today via @DandridgeDaily, audio of Dorothy Dandridge introducing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. circa 1963. You know I’m going to look into this further, right?

Dorothy Dandridge broke down racial barriers and set the path for black actresses. She become the first black female to be nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Actress category for her role in Carmen Jones. Hollywood couldn’t appreciate Ms. Dandridge simply because she was black. She will always be a legend in my eyes. The epitome of grace, class, beauty, and sophistication.

"If I were white, I could capture the world." ~ Dorothy Jean Dandridge
