For the Love of Dorothy Dandridge

This is the introduction to the Biography Channel’s documentary, Little Girl Lost, on the life of the Dottie.

“She [Dorothy Dandridge] should be the most successful movie star in the whole world, but she was a black woman at the wrong time.” ~ Diahann Carroll

Dorothy Dandridge broke down racial barriers and set the path for black actresses. She become the first black female to be nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Actress category for her role in Carmen Jones. Hollywood couldn’t appreciate Ms. Dandridge simply because she was black. She will always be a legend in my eyes. The epitome of grace, class, beauty, and sophistication.

"If I were white, I could capture the world." ~ Dorothy Jean Dandridge
